Happy Wednesday! Today I decided to do an extended version of #tastytuesday and write a blog post about how to add food allergies and special dietary requests to reservations in My Disney Experience (MDE). You can add them online or through the MDE app on either your tablet or phone, but my step-by-step pictures will focus on how to add food allergies and special dietary needs through MDE on your phone, as you may need to do so while you are on the go at Walt Disney World.
To start, make sure you have a MDE profile, which you can make either through the app or online through the Walt Disney World website. Once you have a profile, log into the MDE app on your phone and pull up the home screen. You can then click on the button at the button of the home screen the looks like a “plus” sign.
The plus sign will open up a menu of quick links. From that menu, click on “Reserve Dining.”
Once you have clicked on “Reserve Dining,” you will reach a page that will ask you to input:
- The number of people in your party.
- The date you would like to make the reservation.
- The time of day you would like to make the reservation.
I chose to input 2 people for my party, today’s date, and I clicked on the general “Dinner” time instead of a certain hour because I wanted to see all of the reservations that show up for dinner. I then scrolled down and chose a 7:30pm reservation under California Grill and clicked into the reservation time slot to start the reservation process.
Once you are in the reservation itself, scroll all the way to the bottom of the reservation and click on the button that says “Add Food Allergy or Request.”
The button should bring you to a page where you can click on all of your food allergies and special dietary requests. I made sure to input my milk, egg, and gluten allergies, but there are several more options as you can see. Once you have clicked on your food allergies or special requests, click “Save” on the bottom of the screen.
Finally, once you have saved your food allergies and/or special requests, you will be redirected back to the main reservation. Scroll down to the bottom, click on the checkmark next to “I have read and agree to the Guest Policies,” and click on the “Book Now” button.
Congrats! You have now booked your reservation on MDE and added in your food allergies and/or special requests!!
The one caveat to adding your special requests to the reservation is that you cannot go back and modify the reservation online. In order to modify your food requests, you will need to call into Walt Disney World directly or have your Personal Vacation Advisor (me!) call in for you. And, don’t hesitate to remind cast members that you already submitted your food allergies on your reservations! Although all restaurants have access to the information, sometimes the host/hostess does not communicate to the cast member who is serving you, so make sure you remind the cast member of your dietary preferences if they don’t bring up your preferences first.
Here’s to living our best and most delicious Disney lives! <3
