Happy #tastytuesday friends!! Today I wanted to cover a popular resort restaurant specializing in allergy friendly eats: Grand Floridian Cafe. Grand Floridian Cafe (GF Cafe) is located in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa along with 1 buffet (1900 Park Faire), 2 signature restaurants (Citrico’s and Narcoossee’s), 1 AAA Star Diamond restaurant (Victoria & Albert’s), and 2 quick service locations. GF Cafe is located right off the lobby of the Grand Floridian and is 1 table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan.

I’ve made reservations at GF Cafe several times and have never had an issue finding one. GF Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but we opted for the lunch option as we had a late start to the morning. My family and I checked in for our reservation at 12:00pm and were seated about 5 minutes later.

Although it looks small on the outside, GF Cafe is pretty spacious. The restaurant also takes a break between meals, which made for some great pictures of the empty restaurant. Although the decor is a little old school, I love how classy this restaurant feels combined with the affordable food. It’s a very comfortable atmosphere.

The menu is simple, and as I was on the Disney Dining Plan, I opted to try an appetizer, entree, and dessert.

I chose to start with the Heirloom Apple Salad without the sharp cheddar. I was pretty pleased with the salad overall, especially the candied walnuts, which are not on the original menu. To be safe, I would ask your server to make sure these do no appear in your meal if you are allergic to walnuts. However, I greatly enjoyed the taste and the salad overall, especially the honey apple vinaigrette.

For my main course, I opted for the allergy friendly pasta. Overall, I was very disappointed with this dish. The chicken was very dry, the pasta was falling apart, and the whole dish did not have a ton of flavor. I don’t think I would order this dish again in the near future.

For dessert, I decided to try the allergy friendly Apple Crisp with Coconut Milk Ice Cream. I was so full from my meal that I didn’t think I would finish this dessert, but I ate the whole thing! It was so good, from the ice cream to the crumble to the gooey apple filling. 10/10 would recommend!
Overall, GF Cafe was full of ups and downs for me. Some food items were awesome and delicious, while others were not. I would recommend eating here for food allergies, but would be curious to see how breakfast and dinner compare to lunch at GF Cafe.
Here’s to living our best and most delicious Disney lives! <3
