Rose & Crown Lunch Review

Happy #tastytuesday friends!! And I hope everyone is staying safe during this current pandemic. I know I promised that I would keep up with my blog more often, but the months of March and April were extremely difficult for me, so I took a quick break and now I’m back! Today I thought I would review one of my favorite spots to have lunch in Epcot: Rose & Crown in the United Kingdom pavilion. Rose & Crown is made up of both a restaurant and a pub, so you can grab a drink and a quick snack or stay for a full table service meal. Rose & Crown is also 1 table service credit per person on the Disney Dining Plan if you choose to do a sit-down meal.

Kyle and I actually decided to go to Rose & Crown on a whim when when I had a break during the Magical Vacation Planner annual conference in March 2020. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know I am a huge planner and eating at table services restaurants on a whim is not something I like to do. However, we went onto the My Disney Experience app and found a 3:20pm reservation, input my food allergies into the reservation, and then Kyle and I made way over from our room at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and into Epcot, which was about a 10 minute walk for us. From there, we checked into our reservation at the entrance to the restaurant, which is outside of the Rose & Crown pub on the left hand side.

We were seated about 5 minutes after we checked into our reservation. Above, you can see that we had a nice view of World Showcase lagoon from our table inside of the restaurant. This restaurant has great indoor and outdoor seating, and, if you can catch your dining reservation right and ask for a table outside, you may have a wonderful view of the fireworks show, which is currently Epcot Forever. On this day, it was rather humid, so Kyle and I were happy to be inside with air conditioning and still have a nice view.

I have eaten at Rose & Crown for both lunch and dinner, and, although the options are similar, I much prefer the allergy friendly options on the lunch menu. This menu also has a lot of options for combined food allergies (like milk, eggs, and wheat), and so I like the variance on this menu in comparison to other restaurants at Walt Disney World.

Kyle and I were not on the Disney Dining Plan for this particular meal, so we opted to just order an entree and a dessert. I chose a non-conventional UK dish and decided to go with the allergy friendly Chicken Masala Curry. I was looking for a delicious, balanced dish, and that’s exactly what I got! The entire plate was steaming when it came out to the table, as it had been freshly made. The chicken was moist, and the masala curry had the right balance of heat, tomato sauce, and spices. Additionally, even though the vegetables were simple, they were seasoned well and tasted absolutely delicious in the masala curry.

For dessert, I had already had my eye on the rice pudding as soon as I sat down. I had already had it once over the summer when my mom and I decided to book the Illuminations: Reflections of the Earth dining package at Rose & Crown, and I knew it was going to be a great option. I was not disappointed!! What I like about this dessert is that it is a nice balance of savory and sweet. The rice pudding is on the savory side, with hints of coconut and orange. The berry compote and the dairy free whipped topping were where the sweetness came in, and the ratio of berry compote to rice pudding was perfect.

Whenever a guest I am working with asks me for a restaurant recommendation in Epcot, I always recommend Rose & Crown. If it’s not on your list to visit already, it definitely should be!

Here’s to living our best and most delicious Disney lives! <3
