Surprise! #tastytuesday is taking on a whole new theme park’s worth of allergy friendly food reviews via Universal Orlando Resort! I’m really excited to cover a wider scope of restaurants, all for you of course!
Today’s review takes us to The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park. The Three Broomsticks is considered a quick service dining option at Universal, and it’s Harry Potter themed, which I love.

After an awesome ride on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, Kyle and I were a little hungry, so as The Three Broomsticks was right next to the exit to the ride, we figured why not try out a quick breakfast? We were greeted in the front entryway by a team member who advised us that we could put in an online mobile order via the Universal Orlando Mobile app and that the food would be brought to our table. I asked about the allergy friendly offerings, and the team member told me that I could discuss my options with the next team member who would confirm my order.

Kyle and I chose to enter the restaurant before we placed our mobile order (I’m planning to do a whole blog post about mobile ordering at Universal, so more to come on that!). We were seated at a table that was 6 feet from every other party and allowed to remove our masks while we we’re sitting. another team member stood by the entrance to make sure that no one exited that way, and other team members walked around the restaurant confirming mobile orders. The atmosphere overall was nice and very relaxed.

Once we sat down, we put in our mobile order. I decided to get the Porridge Breakfast with pumpkin juice (1 drink is included with your meal!), while Kyle opted for the Traditional English Breakfast. As I had seen something on the menu that worked for my allergies, I actually forgot to speak to a team member about my order. Porridge and fruit are ok with my dairy and egg allergies, but I would check with a team member to see if the porridge has gluten if you are interested in ordering this dish. On a past visit, I had asked about the pumpkin juice, which is just juice and pumpkin. Butterbeer does have dairy in it, so I unfortunately have to avoid it. Once we had ordered, a team member came to our table and wrote down our table number (233) as well as our mobile order confirmation number.

About 10 minutes later, another team member brought our food directly to our table. I removed the buttery croissant from my plate (which you can ask to be removed before you order and is something I would recommend doing if you are concerned about cross contamination). The fruit was great and a hearty portion, although the cantaloupe was not quite ripe yet. The porridge was cooked well, and I enjoyed the brown sugar packet that came with it to mix into the porridge. This breakfast was simple, but very filling, which was awesome. And of course, I LOVED my pumpkin juice, although it was slightly watered down. Overall, I’d give my breakfast an 8/10.
Although allergy friendly options exist at Universal, they can be harder to find than at Walt Disney World. I am looking forward to our next outing and to try more foods out for you to help with your experience!
