The Plaza Restaurant Lunch Review

Happy #tastytuesday friends! A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to eat at The Plaza Restaurant located in Disney’s Magic Kingdom park. I had eaten there once before and found that it wasn’t a stand out experience for me. That was not the case on this visit!

My mom and I had a 12:05pm reservation at The Plaza, so we spent the morning doing as many rides as we could, and then did the mobile check in via the My Disney Experience app 15 minutes before our reservation. We made our way over to The Plaza, which is located at the very end of Main Street USA on the right hand side if you are facing Cinderella Castle. The Plaza is typically 1 table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan.

Our table was ready about 10 minutes after we completed our mobile check-in. We were seated by the windows of the restaurant facing towards the plaza area in front of Cinderella Castle. Inside the restaurant, the tables and chairs were spread out to promote social distancing, and we were allowed to take off our masks once seated at the table. And, of course, if we needed to get up/use the bathroom, we were asked to put our masks back on while walking through the restaurant. One thing to note about this restaurant is that the bathrooms are actually located outside by Tomorrowland Terrace, which may be surprising if you were not already aware.

Because I had already noted my food allergies during mobile check-in (eggs/dairy), I was given the allergy friendly menu. My experience with Disney owned table service restaurants is that the regular menu is given via QR code, while the allergy friendly menu is a paper menu that is discarded after use. I decided to start with the Wedge Salad and then have The Plaza Burger without the cheese for my main course.

If you’re here from Facebook or Instagram, you’ll already know that I am ECSTATIC about this salad. Why, do you ask? BECAUSE THE PLAZA HAD PLANT BASED RANCH DRESSING, meaning that it was dairy and egg free. Usually, when I go out to a restaurant, I can’t order a creamy dressing since eggs and dairy are the primary bases. I was so so happy to indulge in one of my favorite foodie pleasures again with this salad topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, and plant based cheddar cheese. 100/10 for me!!

And then, we have The Plaza burger. Of course, I tried the fries first. They were crispy, perfectly salted, and nice and hot. But that burger was the star of the show. I am usually a person who likes ketchup on their burger no matter what other toppings are on it, but I did not feel like I needed it for this particular burger. The pulled pork on top added all of the sweetness I was looking for, and the allergy friendly bun was perfect. How often do you say that an allergy friendly bun is perfect?! 12/10 for me.

And let’s not forget about the view! I could have sat here all day staring at Cinderella Castle. It’s very rare to see this area so barren, so I like to take it in when I can.

Overall, I had an excellent experience at The Plaza for lunch. It was a complete 180 from the experience I had in July 2019, which was my first experience dining at the restaurant. I would have liked to try dessert as well, but I was full from the food I did order that I decided not to. I highly recommend The Plaza for those who are looking for standard American comfort food on their trip to Magic Kingdom.

Here’s to living our best and most delicious Disney lives! <3
