Happy #tastytuesday friends! Today we are headed to Africa…in Walt Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Park! Here, you will find one of my all-time favorite quick service locations: Harambe Market. This quick service is not the most well-known dining location in Animal Kingdom, but it is a nice, quiet spot to relax and grab a quick (and tasty!) bite to eat.

Harambe Market is located behind Mombasa Market, and you will most likely pass this location if you are walking from Kilimanjaro Safaris, Rafiki’s Planet Watch, or the Gorilla Falls walking path to the Asia section of the park. Harambe Market currently operates on limited hours, mostly weekends and busier park days, and it closed at 3pm the last two times I dined there.

The menu for Harambe Market can be found on signs outside of the restaurant and on the My Disney Experience app. You will need to mobile order your food, unless you have food allergies, then you are allowed to speak to a cast member and manually order your food at a register with your noted allergies.

Allergy friendly menus are also now noted for Harambe Market in the My Disney Experience app. You can see what they look like above in the screen shot I took directly from the app.

I chose to order my entree through the My Disney Experience app as I had eaten here previously. I ordered the chicken & ribs bowl option, which is my favorite because I can never decide between the chicken or the ribs, and I noted an egg allergy in the app (the dish itself is naturally gluten and dairy free). Once my order was ready, I headed to my designated window to pick up my meal where the cast member confirmed my allergy and made sure everything was all set.

Harambe Market has plenty of outdoor seating to choose from, so I found a small, quiet table in the sun since this day was particularly chilly for Florida weather.

OH. EM. TASTEBUDS. The meal was just as amazing as I remembered. The ribs have a dry rub (no sauce) and are spiced to perfection. The chicken is smoked well and compliments the flavor of the ribs. I am always here for cilantro rice, and the salad had a nice vinaigrette on top that tasted great on the rice as well. I also grabbed some hot sauce to add on top for a little extra zing of flavor. 10/10 for me!
Overall, I highly recommend eating at Harambe Market with food allergies. The attentiveness to food allergies and the elevated, yet basic food options are a win for me in my book. If you can catch this hidden gem when it’s open, definitely give it a try!
Here’s to living our best and most delicious Disney lives! <3
