Chef Mickey’s Breakfast Review

Happy #tastytuesday friends! This week I decided to revise my Chef Mickey’s breakfast review now that I have experienced this meal with the characters. Spoiler alert: it was amazing!

Normally a character dining and buffet experience where you can meet the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto), Chef Mickey’s has undergone some small changes with its reopening post-Covid. The last time I dined here, characters had not yet returned, although they did return with socially distanced interactions starting on 12/16/20. I was able to get a reservation for early January with some friends of mine to check it out!

The other change is that this breakfast has become an all-you-can-eat family style meal, similar to Garden Grill, instead of a buffet. You can still see the food being prepared at the buffet stations, but now the cast members will bring the food right to your table.

I was given both the regular menu and the allergy menu when I sat down, as the cast member wanted to make sure I knew what all of my dining options were. As I had already noted my allergies in the My Disney Experience app, my server was fully aware of my dairy, egg, and gluten allergies. At this time, you can also find the allergy friendly menu online at through the My Disney Experience app. To know more information about finding allergy friendly menus online, click here.

I decided to start with my WDW breakfast beverage of choice, which is a coffee with chocolate Soy milk. I have not had an issue asking for soy milk instead of creamer at any of the breakfasts I have gone to, and it’s my favorite way to start my Disney breakfasts. 10/10 for allergy friendly consistency!

After a few sips of coffee, my server brought our table some fresh fruit to start. I love me some fresh fruit, but did not enjoy the basil on top. 8/10 solely because of the basil. Next time I’ll have to remember to ask for my fruit without the basil.

Next, our server brought the table sausage, bacon, and brisket, which are all items I could eat and that all suited my allergies. I’m big into breakfast meats, so these options were all amazing to me, especially the brisket. It was so tender and easy to cut. 10/10 all around!

So if you have been reading my posts or following my social media (Facebook and Instagram), you’ll know I LOVE a good allergy friendly Mickey waffle and allergy friendly eggs (usually made with tofu instead of eggs). Well, my next course did not disappoint! The allergy friendly waffles were as fluffy and delicious as always, plus I loved the added bonus of them being covered in edible glitter, which made them look even more adorable. The waffles were served with the plant based tofu scramble and if you’ve read my Topolino’s Terrace breakfast review, you may know already that I love the plant based scramble there. However, I think Chef Mickey’s may have surpassed Topolino’s for my favorite tofu scramble on property. First, it was actually a scramble and not served in an omelette form. Second, the flavors were amazing. You can taste the fresh veggies, and I felt just like I was eating real eggs. 10/10 for me for both the waffles and the tofu scramble; 12/10 for the presentation!

And of course, we can’t forget about the characters! We were able to see all Fab 5 characters about 3 times each. I really enjoyed our interactions with them, especially Donald. He was super sassy and flirty and just a hoot. Since the characters cannot sign autographs currently, we were also given a small postcard with all of the characters’ signatures plus a cute design. We didn’t take many pictures with the characters, but if you go to my YouTube channel, you’ll be able to see the videos I took!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Chef Mickey’s. The food was amazing, and for $42 per adult and $27 per child, you definitely get your money’s worth for both food and character interactions. I look forward to returning to eat here next week during my agency’s yearly conference!

Here’s to living our best and most delicious Disney lives! <3
